NASMOTO / SuperMotoCanada National Championship

Toronto, ON – August 8, 2005 – Adding to an already strong commitment to professional Supermoto racing in the United States, Red Bull Canada has thrown its support behind SuperMoto Canada and NASMOTO (North American Supermoto). The event, Polson Pier Supermoto, will take place on Saturday August 27th on an innovative custom built course through the streets of downtown Toronto at the Polson Pier, 11 Polson St.

“We’re excited to bring the Polson Pier Supermoto to Toronto,” said Ted Baker from SuperMoto Canada. “We see the future of the sport and that is by growing it with top name athletes and amateurs in urban settings. Our friends at Red Bull really have the talent and marketing power to put on a great Supermoto event. This year’s race is going to feature some of the most outrageous obstacles ever seen in a motorcycle race course. You have to be there in person to believe it.”

“Red Bull and Supermoto have become synonymous as they are naturally joined by association through high energy, quality products. New venues in urban areas, tracks and top athletes are coming on board as the sport grows with Red Bull’s involvement. Red Bull’s commitment to Supermoto is highlighted by the creation of one of the most innovative websites in the world www.redbullcopilot.com.

Supermoto takes place on a specially designed track consisting of approximately 75% pavement and 25% dirt. It pits riders of many disciplines side by side in an all out battle to see “Who’s The Best” all round rider. Supermoto offers non-stop adrenaline fueled action and an up-close spectacle not seen in many forms of motorsports racing. High Speed pavement slides, supercross-style jumps and flat out hammer down acceleration are just some of the reasons fans and riders are turning to the excitement of supermoto.

For the first time, Team Troy Lee Designs with riders Jeff Ward, Chris Fillmore and Troy Lee himself are coming to Canada to go head to head with Team Red Bull KTM, HMC KTM and Canada’s top riders Steve and Doug Beattie and Dave Arnold for the NASMOTO race on Saturday, August 27th and for the SuperMoto Canada Championships series finale on Sunday August 28th.

The top 3 riders from each classification will be qualified for the Red Bull Supermoto A -GO–GO taking place through the streets of Reno NV on October 1st and 2nd. “This is a huge opportunity for amateur riders to ride with the sports’ big dogs on the same course for the GO-GO” says Ted Baker. “We are building a foundation for tomorrow’s champions right here through the streets of Toronto.”

Practice and qualifying start early (9am) Saturday August 27th with the finals going off from 1-4pm. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.ca or by visiting:
